MP3 LARRY ORR - TRUCKER'S HOLIDAY
Trucker''s Holiday started, "Sipping whiskey and eggnog in a plastic cup, alone in a roadside motel. It''s Christmas eve and I''m by myself......." and as I was searching for something to rhyme with "motel" and came up with "living out a truck driver''s hell"

At the age of 12 Larry Orr picked up a baritone ukulele and with the aid of an instruction booklet and a felt pick, taught himself how to play "Little Brown Jug." He later found that the four strings on the baritone ukulele were the same as the four bottom strings on a guitar.
At the age of 15, he acquired a guitar. He had figured out how to add the bass strings along with learning a handful of chords. He was soon sitting around the campfire at the YMCA camp, where he worked during the summer, strumming the popular folk songs of the day.
At 17, Larry wrote his first song. As his life took it''s various twists and turns, he found songwriting to be a reliable creative outlet. Now 40 years later, he is recording those songs. Larry Orr has his own unique ability to paint pictures with words, which not so surprisingly chronicles his life experiences in his songs.
He had never aspired to be a professional songwriter or singer and probably puts it best in a recent song, "My Kind of Religion," where he writes:
"I''m just a folk singing campfire guitar player.
I''m no one you''ve ever heard of before.
I just like sitting, singing and strumming
with a cup of coffee, a cigarette and my guitar."
Larry is working as a long haul truck driver to finance studio time, hire musicians and producers to help him record his songs, as he puts it, "The way I hear ''em in my head." His goal is to record them all!
