Details:
Lane Stowe was born to be a musician. The son of retired music teachers, he is a versatile vocalist/horn player/bassist who has sung and played with a variety of musical groups during his 20 year career. Although jazz is his first love, he also enjoys playing R&B, Rock and Roll, funk and gospel, and he plays them all with great enthusiasm!

His formal musical training began at age 8 when he began playing the trumpet in elementary school band, later switching to trombone. In high school in Upstate New York, he took up the euphonium, and later took a crash course (literally) playing sousaphone in the marching band, as well as playing a variety of other brass instruments. It was also at this time when Lane started to sing with the high school jazz band and chorus. This lead to Lane trying out and being selected for the All-County, All-State, Regional and National High School Choirs during his time in senior high. At 16 Lane took up the electric bass, as he began studying the music of Marcus Miller and Jaco Pastorius, as he was influenced by his bass-playing friends Sean Tarleton and Jonathan Sanborn. During this time, Lane began playing bass and horns in local bands in the Hudson Valley, and began to make a name for himself among the local musicians.

Lane graduated from Ithaca College in 1990 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance and a minor in Business Management. While at Ithaca, Lane also studied jazz performance with acclaimed jazz guitarist Steve Brown, and he also studied vocal jazz with David Riley, who is responsible for the creation of the critically acclaimed vocal jazz group “The New York Voices.”

Lane is a lead vocalist/horn player with the band "Big Beat Tornado", an original R&B band which plays regularly in the Atlantic Northeast region. Lane is also in demand as a freelance musician, as he recently ended a five-year stint as the lead vocalist/trumpet player for “The All-Night Band”, a professional band in the NYC Metro area comprised of studio musicians.

During his career, Lane has had the opportunity to perform with an incredible list of entertainers that includes jazz artists The New York Voices, Lew Tabackin, Marvin Stamm, Tony Levin, Jack DeJohnette, Bernard Purdie, Chris Vadala, Steve Gilmore, Gus Mancini, Pat Cerello, Tom Hamilton, Ed Alstrom, Freddie Hendrix, John Korba and Rick Altman. Lane has also had the opportunity to perform as a classical soloist with the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, the “Opera IV” opera company of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and the “Ars Choralis” Choral Society of Woodstock, New York – he’s even sung as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Town Hall in NYC!

Lane currently resides with his wife Michal in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
