Looking back on Larry Bagby''s life, it seems he was destined to become the entertainer he is today. Born and raised mostly in California, Bagby was exposed to the musical world early on in life. Bagby''s father played in a dance band and Bagby was known to jump on stage and start entertaining the crowd along side his talented father. However, it was Bagby''s debut performance as "Oz" in the play The Wizard of Oz at the tender age of 8 that really got him interested in music.
Since that time, Bagby has been writing, singing, and playing his songs. He recorded his first 4 track when he was in junior high over years his musical talent has progressed into prolific songwriting and live performances. Within the last couple of years, Bagby''s songs have been included in several independent film projects and he received national air play for his vocal rendition of "America Stands Tall." However, his musical talent goes beyond belting out tunes. He self produced his latest album, Where I Stand, and plays the piano and guitar.
Where I Stand takes the listener on a musical journey through the last two years of Bagby''s life. Inspired by the legendary sound of Elvis Presley and The Beatles along with the more modern melodies of John Mayer and Dave Matthews, Bagby successfully blends the up beat resonance of rock and roll with the richness of country. Bagby made this project a family affair having his nieces as back up singers and in his song entitled "Dad" Bagby wrote a part expressly for the accordion so that he could include his own father in the project.
Along with Bagby''s musical talent, he his also an accomplished actor. He spent summer 2004 in Memphis, TN, shooting the highly anticipated film Walk The Line alongside Hollywood stars Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. Based on the life of Johnny Cash, Walk The Line features Bagby in the role of "Marshall Grant"; Cash''s best friend and stand up bass player.
Bagby recently starred in the award winning film Saints and Soldiers as the card trick playing, cigarette loving southern boy "Shirl Kendrick". Aside from winning 21 best picture awards from film festivals around the nation, Saints and Soldiers was also nominated for Best First Feature and Best Cinematography in the 2004 IFP Independent Spirit Awards.
In conjunction with his many guest appearances on shows such as CSI, JAG, and Malcolm in the Middle, Bagby is most noted for his recurring guest spot on Buffy the Vampire Slayer as football hero "Larry Blaisdell". As a youth, Bagby also co-starred in the films Hocus Pocus and Airborne.
Between Bagby''s musical ambitions and his filming schedule he doesn''t have much free time left. However, Bagby still enjoys the rush of doing stand up comedy where he is known for his eerily realistic impressions of Chewbacca and Michael J. Fox.
