With the release of her independent debut CD, me, myself & i, in 1995, Danielle introduced herself as a poetic and introspective singer/songwriter whose style ranges from intimately accessible to strangely quirky to passionately aggressive. The contributing musicians and producers certainly make this CD an all-star project as Danielle had the pleasure of working with various members of Blue Rodeo and Spirit of the West as well as members of the Sarah McLachlan and Barney Bentall bands. The power of her poetic lyrics and the raw sincerity of her voice strike a deep chord with audiences and Danielle has forged her reputation opening for such artists as Holly Cole, the Barenaked Ladies, Burton Cummings, Mae Moore, Connie Kaldor, Melanie Doane, and Lawrence Gowan. Danielle has co-written with several noted songwriters such as Matthew Good, Annette Ducharme and Jenny Allen and her original material has been covered by both Jenny Allen and the Plaid Tongued Devils in their One Yellow Rabbit theatre rock opera co-production In Kleskavania.
Her second CD, Piece, took several years to complete and was finally released in 2003. A true labour of love, Piece was mixed at Alberta’s prestigious Banff Centre by John Sorensen (The Rolling Stones, Beck), Danielle’s collaborative cast on this project included noteworthy names like Burton Cummings (on the gloomy, doom-weighted duet “To the Death”), Don Kerr (Rheostatics, Ron Sexsmith), Paul MacLeod (The Skydiggers) and Luke Doucet (Veal).
