At first, I wanted this album to be recorded live. The real reason for this was fear - I''d never sung in a studio the way I do when I''m on stage, and the sense of security created wen every note is made, then lost, was far less frightening than singing in a studio and possibly getting things wrong numerous times. In the end, we reached a compromise; the music was recorded by a friend, at Laurie''s [Holloway - MD Parkinson/Strictly Come Dancing] house. The whole session became a weekend-long party, and it was unanimously agreed that this was the only way to record. In the end, we had the best of both worlds - a live sound (all instruments and voice recorded in the same room and, in many cases, in one take) with the control of a studio. What has been created is both a snapshot of one aspect of my musical life from November 2009, and something I''m very proud of indeed.
This album is dedicated to Jeff Clyne, a friend, mentor and supporter, who believed in me and who helped me believe in myself.
