This first Chronique for 2006 will cover a beautiful CD which came out toward the very end of 2005, too late to be included in the Ten best Cds for 2005. However, it fits right in. “Noche Tropical – Saxolove”, is the second of what I hope will be a series, produced by Fred Paul and Mini Records. As usual, he saved the best for last.

Some of the songs are the same as in the Haitiando Series, but this time, it is the melodious saxophone of Didier Labossière which is featured throughout. Boy! How sweet it is! as would say the late comedian Jackie Gleason. Labossière’s saxophone will make you melt like butter. He is not what you would call a flashy sax player, but his play is sensitive, melodic, nuanced and that makes some beautiful https://www.tradebit.com arrangements are excellent and Eddy
Prophète’s piano is most enjoyable to listen to. There are some tunes on this CD that were not in the Haitiando Series, but as you listen to the whole album, it sounds as fresh, with the saxophone enhancing the songs. Listen to “Benita”, “Merci”, “Le premier bonheur du jour” and all the other tunes. I also like the arrangements in tune No. 11, “Lumane Casimir” played on a nice bossa nova beat. And I never tire of listening to the wonderful piano solo in “Ghislaine”, which I find exquisite. This is music to relax, enjoy and feel at peace. As I said it for the Haitiando Series, the arrangements are sophisticated, subtle, rich, sensitive and simple, all at once.

As I said, this CD is one for the best 10 for 2005 and if you have not yet done so, you should include it in your collection. The mixing is good, all the songs are nice and all you need to do is run to your CD supplier, buy your c
opy, get your other half (whoever this person may be), get some wine or better yet, some “Sele Bride” from Cap-Haïtien, dim the light, turn your CD player on and…get mellow.
