..."a voice that sounds as comfortable to listen to as a broken-in pair of Levi''s...reminds me of Don Edwards, Tom T. Hall"
Bob Blackburn / Music and Promotions Coordinator / Westwood One Radio Network

Alan''s lyrics are crafted with insight and empathy, colored by wit and imagination, and tempered by the fires of experience. He''s a man looking for answers to life''s most basic questions posed to us all. Striving to live what he finds and contributing to seeing a better world, be it in a box car, in front of a mirror, or in the eyes of you or me. I hear where he''s coming from and feel I''m riding right along with him on his 10 stop tour of pure Americana .

Song Reviews;

"There are themes both lyrically and instrumentally that make the song immediately catchy. The lyrics suggests pictures to the mind that one can emotionally identify with. Also they are absolutely perfect for the arrangement. The vocals, melodies, rhythm, and riffs all seem to compliment each other to create the desired mood." - Review of "Life is a Rhythm"

Alan W. Gray "Internal Affairs". When you hear Alan Gray sing "I''m Just A Man", you may wonder, just what kind of man he is...(...I bundle my life, high on a pole, nothing to hide, or fear , but the cold) In heart and song, Alan is part poet, and part hobo, with his "Thumb In The Sky", yearning to conquer the nuances of truly being "on-your-own, owned-by-nothing." His vagabond spirit comes to him direct -- his father "Orville Gray" took to the rails at the tender age of 13. Traveling from Oklahoma, in the early 1930''s, across much of the country in search of adventure and a better life. Eventually his father settled down in Bakersfield California long enough for Alan to be born. Now Alan keeps his own hobo spirit alive and warm, as did his dad--in front of the home fires, with his own growing family that he ultimately lives (and would die) for. ("..I''ll take that vow to my grave.") So, you could say Al is a hobo/family man....
