Angie’s first full album GIven to Sudden Panic and Noisy Retreat is both defiant and heartfelt. Through the romance you’ll follow blood spilled on a snowy landscape, empty cocktails, and scavenging gulls on the shore, all while softly embraced by Angie’s smoky and hopeful lilt.
Here’s how it all started......Mattson grew up performing in the local theater. At 14 she deciphered piano at a nearby resort where she worked. She grew up between mom’s house and dad’s house in West Michigan, the oldest of 8 siblings. During high school she sang and performed with the Muskegon Civic Theater Repertory Touring company. After school, as a music lover and gypsy, she bought an old blue school bus and sold beer and art at concerts around the midwest. After stints working and living in North Carolina, Tokyo, and Florida she sold everything and moved onto a small sailboat and spent a year in the West Indies. With her she brought an old classical guitar that was given to her years ago. She learned guitar and wrote a handful of songs. People liked them and wanted more. The spark was lit. She put on some make-up and moved to LA. She recorded a demo with producer Rudy Haeusermann called ‘Monarch’. It got the attention of her now manager Michael Hausman (Aimee Mann, Suzanne Vega). Since then her music has shown up on several film and tv shows. She just finished recording her first full length cd with producer/composer Nathan Larson (Shudder to Think, Boys Don’t Cry). They recorded in Sweden, New York and LA. It is set to be released August 28th, 2007 independently on her label Radio Nine Records. Angie currently resides in the industrial district of downtown Los Angeles, next to the trains and bridges she loves.
