This movie provides an "eyewitness" perspective of the Battle for Iwo Jima, an island fortress held by 20,000 Japanese soldiers who are hiding in their undergroud base. You are there as the U.S. Navy bombards the tiny island with rockets and artilery shells, as the Marines storm the beaches and you bare witness to the raising of the U.S. Flag. Since the japanese never surendered, all 20,000 Japanese solders were killed along with 7000 U.S. Soldiers. A great piece of history captured on film.
