BRIAN HOBBS [composer/lyricist/producer, Age 43]:
is originally from North Carolina and attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He lived in New York City from 1979-1992 where he was active in the musical theater and as an accompanist and performer in cabarets and piano bars. One of his musicals, "POE", (a musical based on the life of the writer and poet Edgar Allan Poe) was given a workshop production by the Soho Repertory Theater in NYC in 1989. In addition, he was selected out of more than 1000 applicants to participate in the ASCAP musical theater workshop (1981) and the Lehman Engel Musical theater workshop sponsored by BMI (1985-1986).
He was also selected to participate in the ASCAP POP songwriting/workshop in 1989 and the ASCAP R&B workshops in 1990/1991. After relocating to Sweden in 1992, he was a staff songwriter with MCA/Universal Music from 1993-2001.
During his time in Sweden he has collaborated with, and had songs recorded by some of the country''s top artists including: Excellence, Friends, Mauro Scocco, Leif Larsson, Jill Johnson, Anders Bagge, Herbie, Viktoria Tolstoy, Cajsa Stina Åkeström, Martin, Meja, Nils Landgren and others. Brian has also worked with top Nashville writers Michael Garvin, Wayne Tester, Tommy Polk, Johnny Neel and Will Robinson as well as songwriter/recording artist and fellow CD Baby member Derrik Jordan.
Brian produced and co-wrote Charlotte & Dea''s "Alabaster Nights" CD, which was released in Japan in November 1999.
His company, Eidolon Productions AB had its first release in 2001 with the instrumental CD, Music for Balancing Body & Mind. (Soon to be available here at CD Baby)
He has also composed the music for a relaxation CD "Inner Balance," which will be released and available during the 2nd half of 2002.
Eidolon has also produced and written an album for Swedish Country artist, Monica Silverstrand. The album is expected to be released in 2002.
A song Brian co-wrote has recently been selected to participate in the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest. His song was selected out of more than 1800 submissions and, if his song wins in the Swedish final, will represent Sweden in the European final.
