Johnny Anderson was born in the year of our lord nineteen hundred and eighty-six. He began writing and recording his musical stylings fifteen years later, and after a brief stint with local pop-punk band Sub Par, turned to a more experimental sound, recording dozens of rants revolving around typical teenage angst. These were trimmed to create "Static and the Moonlight", a long winded album heard only by his friends and the unlucky passerby.
He cut his teeth at open mics around Des Moines with just a six-string under his arm, a harmonica on his lips, a dream in his mind and a sparkle in his eye. His live shows would eventually include a homemade stompbox and what ever lost souls he could rope into joining him on stage.
In 2007 Johnny simultaneously released two albums. "Foxholes & Firewalls" speaks of lost love and lost time. "Coal & Steam" tells the wild west story of Edward Wiat, a young businessman turned outlaw and shot dead over a matter of stolen whiskey. It is widely believed the album reflects Anderson''s longing for a simpler, if less glamourous era.
With a steadier hand at the microphone and a few performances under his belt, Johnny sat down to record and revamp what would become "So Long Music", a eclectic romp from Country to Blues to New Wave to Polka. Released in 2009 near the end of his college days, it bids a rhythmic and lighthearted so long.
Johnny Anderson is a son of the song and has taken persuasion from many famed music makers both past and present, the majority of which stem from the riverside town of Omaha, Nebraska. He currently resides with a rotating band of musical gypsies, thieves, knaves and kindly world-weary sailors where he dabbles in sidewalk shuffling, moon howling, tomahawk chucking, pistol toting, whiskey drinking, day dreaming, night walking, foibles and folk tales.
