Details:
Meredith Heller sings from her soul. While her musical roots stem primarily in folk, this Siren has her own unique style. Her voice moves with an ease, strength, and emotion that reveal the depth and complexity of her character. She weaves haunting and intricate melodies with the lucid imagery of a sensually perceptive poet. You will not only hear her music, you will feel it.
Meredith Heller has one of the most beautiful and ethereal voices that I have ever heard. To be at one of her live shows is like having an out-of-body experience, where she invites you to dance with her soul. She is so incredibly spiritual - and not in the closed-minded organized religion kind of way - that I could swear that she is the true incarnation of Siddhartha, hidden in the body of this remarkable woman.

"A singer/songwriter with a depth and a weight that is attempted but not achieved often. Meredith delivers honest lyrics wrapped in simple melodies that weave and curve around subliminal hooks and beautiful lucid turnarounds. It is not always about overproduction, too many chords and the busy sounds. Meredith represents a simplicity that shines through. This is why Meredith Heller is The PME Diamond in The Rough for this week.”
The first time I met the Muse I was about 9. She hunkered down beside me and whispered into my left ear. Since then I’ve dedicated my life to learning how to put myself in a space where I could hear her voice. Sometimes she gets fed up with me and doesn’t visit for a couple of years, but then there are those incandescent times when she moves in and we have a love fest.
Song writing is a mystical process: I like to say that it isn’t so much that we write a song but that a song writes us. And I am always humbled, delighted, and grateful.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a mime; I wanted to be in the circus. I studied theater and modern dance. I was born in Brooklyn, New York, but did most of my growing along the Potomac River near Washington, D.C. I have planted trees, painted faces, solo-backpacked through every National Park in the Western U.S. I have slept in graveyards and grape-vineyards all across Europe, taught poetry writing in the schools in Boulder, taken counsel from the Redwoods and written love songs to the Sea. I have lived in Manhattan, London, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Maryland, Boulder Colorado, Big Sur, Hawaii, and hidden hollows in the Blue Ridge. And in case you think I was just running around like a wild woman, I also achieved a dual Master''s degree in writing and education.
For many years I have lived as a mystic-gypsy: passionately seeking to understand myself, others, and the world. Mine has been a life infused, inspired, weathered, and wizened by love, loss, and every other unpredictable force in the Universe. As of 2003, I have made my home in Northern California and I’m not leaving. I’m digging deep roots, stretching graceful branches, and exploding in luminous blooms.
