Details:
Malachy Tallack began writing and performing in the Shetland Islands as a teenager. Since then he has produced three albums and gained widespread praise and attention. His songs cover a wide range of themes, from traditional subjects such as love and loss, to more unusual topics like Shakesperean heroines and fear of the dark.
In 2007 he was chosen to support the legendary Runrig on their autumn tour, after the band heard Malachy performing live on radio.
His new album, from the thorn, was released in summer 2009.
"A precise, poetic lyricist with real depth, tremendous sense of place and a strong hint of darkness; a singer with a unique voice which sounds full of conviction and absolutely convincing."
Tom Morton
"His writing sits confidently in a contemporary roots-pop vein . . . Strong melodies and memorable choruses . . . unafraid to tackle big subjects."
Sue Wilson, The Scotsman
