Details:
How does a woman from Elizabethtown, KY, a woman three hours north in Indiana and two guys from the Evansville, IN area get together? MUSIC,MUSIC, MUSIC!!! When they met there was an immediate synergy. The new singer/songwriters create progressive folk music. Creating and sharing their music brings great joy. The name of this new group is The White Pine League. They chose the name from a reading they came across:

“…the campfire crackles and glows before you. An old man
rises to tell a legend…’long ago your people often went to
war, the battles were bloody and cost many lives. But then
a man named Degananwidah had a vision. He told the
warring groups to stop their endless battling. They
should agree to a lasting peace. Hiawatha convinced the
five warring groups to join in a GREAT PEACE!
They buried their weapons, over these weapons
Deganawhidah, planted a magnificent WHITE PINE
TREE which is the TREE of PEACE.’” excerpt from
Scott Foresmanetatelly; Pearson Education Social Studies Book; 2003

The White Pine League is a group of people sharing their original music in hopes of spreading a message of PEACE. If tribes of the past can find peace we, tribes of this century, can find peaceful solutions to problems in our world.

They continue to play at local coffee shops in their area. Their progressive folk music incorporates inspirations from nature, friends, family, spirituality, and everyday-living in rural Kentucky and Indiana.

Carrie D’Esposito is the lead singer/songwriter. She started writing songs six years ago. She wanted to share her inspirations from nature, friends, family, spirituality and everyday-living with family and friends. She is a wife, mother of five, and a part time nurse. In her spare time she loves sitting around the campfire with family and friends, taking long nature walks, and playing guitar and singing.

Paula Dumont sings and plays many instruments namely the mandolin, guitar, banjo, harmonica, and Native American flute. Paula wrote music many years ago and has recently started again! She owns her own company called “TapRoot”, which connects children to the source of creativity and healing through art, music and nature. In her spare time she loves gardening, playing music, painting, and spending time with her cats.

Jeff Stevens plays drums and impresses with his array of percussion instruments. A new percussion instrument for Jeff is the Cajon Box. Jeff is a husband, father of two and a Journeyman/Wireman. He was raised playing drums in his fathers country/gospel band but played many genres of music throughout his growing up years. He also plays in a Big Band Swing band. Aside from spending time with his family, Jeff also enjoys mountain biking and skate boarding.

Brian Poiles recently joined The White Pine League and brings a smooth jazz feel with his electric and acoustic guitar sounds. He also plays mandolin and bass when needed. Brian is a Journeyman/Wireman also. He was raised playing music with his father over the years. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, fishing, boating and writing music. We hope to have some of his original music on our next CD.
