The Red River Mudcats are "Texhoma Southern Fried" Americana Roots music; a great blend of Southern Rock, Red Dirt, Country Rock, and fiery Texas Blues Rock - true to the notorious sounds of Texas and Oklahoma. Based out of Dallas, Texas, Mudcats members have been integral participants in the infamous Texas and Oklahoma music scenes for many years.
Liz Calendar, the lead vocalist and guitarist, is a native of Dallas, Tex., and a passionate singer/songwriter and former RCA recording artist. At age 17, she began to work with Dallas songwriter/producer Jerry Abbott of Pantego Sound Studio (father of Daryl and Vinnie of Pantera) and by 19, Liz had three Top-5 independent country singles. She was the longtime featured artist for the house band at the "Cowboys Dance Hall" clubs in Dallas, Arlington and Atlanta. There, Liz performed for capacity crowds, 5 nights a week, for several years, and she opened for almost every major country act in the business, including George Jones, Toby Keith, Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride, and many others.
Jeff Parker, on guitars, keys and vocals hails from Newkirk, Okla. He is without a doubt, one of the top guitarists in the business. As a performer, he has traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada, playing all styles of music and sharing the stage and performing with acts including, Buck Owens, Rodney Crowell, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and Jerry Jeff Walker, among countless others. In addition, Parker owns of Cimarron Sound Lab of Stillwater, Okla., and has produced and engineered projects for many artists such as, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Jason Boland & The Stragglers, and the late Bob Childers.
Bobby Ryan Lester, on bass and vocals, is from Mannford, Okla. He is a former member of rock act, "Zendozer" and Red Dirt Okie band "Red Eye Gravy.” In the rock world, Ryan has shared the stage with a variety of acts including Poison, Quiet Riot and Warrant. In the “Red Dirt” scene, has opened for Hank Williams III and the Red Dirt Rangers, among many others.
Dixie Weathers, from Checotah, Okla., holds the groove down on drums and percussion. As a seasoned studio drummer, Dixie has worked with countless greats such as, Ed King (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Tim Lindsey (Molly Hatchet), and Jack Pearson (Allman Brothers). She can also be heard on Artimus Pyle''s (Lynyrd Skynyrd''s former drummer) 2007 release Artimus Venomous.
