As a native and resident of Atlanta going on 40 years now, I have enjoyed and been involved with the Atlanta music scene since the late 80''s. I began creating songs around age 11 and continued to write and play music throughout high school. College arrived and I was then fortunate enough to sing and play guitar for a group of talented musicians in a band known as The Carvers from 1991 - 1996.
Playing in a traveling band provided truly invaluable experiences both in life and live performance. Dealing with the unpredictable ups and downs of the entertainment world armed with only $3.57 in my pocket was quite an exercise in resourcefulness. I would recommend it to all.
A new and surprising chapter in my musical life began in 2003 with the birth of my son. Funny how necessity continues to be the mother of invention or, in this case, composition.
After visibly wearing a path into the carpet from sleep-marching my chronologically confused infant around at 2am, while cycling through the standard catalog of "go to" lullabies, I pulled a last, desperate trick out of my sleeve for inducing slumber... Song improv. Eleven laps around the house later, my first children''s song, simply titled ''Good Night'' was complete.
And so began the years of creating kid-friendly, whimsical and often downright ridiculous songs for my children. Thankfully, I actually took the time to scribble a few notes on the various ideas for tunes.
The arrival of my Daughter in the fall of 2006 further fueled the fire for on-the-spot song smithing and in late October 2007, I began recording a collection of my favorite songs pulled directly from the pile of crumpled post-it notes and cocktail napkins bearing barely legible lyrical snippets.
I am now very excited and proud to be releasing my first 12 song CD titled Sizzle, Hiss, Pop and hope that everyone will have as much fun listening to the songs as I have had creating them.
