Details:
Danu Fox has an unforgettable voice. Formerly a jazz singer of some repute, she recorded her first album as Mandy Fox with her jazz quartet Hara, First Time Ever. Her folk and world colours were there then though, and on moving to the Celtic lands of Cornwall in 1998 she changed her name to Danu and began to take inspiration from the land and sea itself. Already an accomplished singer of Hindustani Raag and jazz, Danu became fascinated with the elemental voice and drum beats of indigenous people, especially of North America and after a long period of shamanic study the style she has become well known for on the festival scene in the UK was born. This EP, Albion, is a composite of her last three albums, with added new tracks taken from a pilgrimage across Britain called Awakening Albion. It took seven weeks to walk from Land''s End to Avebury along the ancient energy lines which join ancient sites such as Glastonbury, Avebury, and many more. Unaccompanied voice soars out in response to the energy and captures the spirit of the land.
