The Complainer is the brainchild of Wojciech Kucharczyk, the founder of notorious https://www.tradebit.comik.! label that found much praise in the electronic music-world on the beginning of XXI century. His artistic outings include these under guise of Molr Drammaz and retro*sex*galaxy as well as collaborations with Felix Kubin and Paul Wirkus.
With The Complainer project Wojtek turned his attention to pop music. First release titled “sponsored by retro*sex*galaxy” found much applause in international media. WIRE even wrote that The Complainer is “here to show the sneery kitschophiliacs how retro should be done".
After the 2007 release "The Complainer & The Complainers", the project turned into a full band, complete with visuals. Kucharczyk was joined by his sister Asia Bronislawska aka Asi Mina (vocals, acoustic guitar), Pawel Trzcinski (synth, percussion) and Marcin Zarzeka (moving pictures).
The band was called simply The Complainer & The Complainers (or TC&TCS for short) and released their first group effort, an album called POWER JOY HAPPINESS FAME! in November 2008. In the meantime TC&TCS were joined by Jakub Adamec (bass).
POWER JOY HAPPINESS FAME! features string quartet, a guest appearance on three songs made by Artur Rojek, frontman of Myslovitz, a prime polish rock group, best known for their international tours with Iggy Pop and the Stooges or The Corrs.
The record was mastered in California by legendary Golden Mastering / JJ Golden, who worked for artists like Sonic Youth, Devendra Banhart or Calexico.
Everything – from intimate ballads, through beautiful pop pieces, to stadium sing-a-longs is played on the variety of smaller and bigger instruments that the musicians share and exchange on the stage. The concert, or better to say, the show of TC&TCS leaves the public a bit stunned and always with a big grin on their faces.
Dubbed in their homeland “polish Sgt. Pepper” for adventurous take on pop music and it’s history, TC&TCS are the completely new formula for more or less used musical terms like: discog-punk, nu-wave, tweet-pop, psych-folk or good ol’ rock''n''roll whom they shaved it’s long, white beard.
