Details:
Gordon Bradberry was born and raised in south Louisiana. His musical roots are steeped in Rhythm and Blues,Zydeco,Cajun french,Country and something he calls “Swamp pop”. Gordon started playing guitar and singing at age thirteen, when a local musician and friend of the family’s taught him his first chords. His song sensibilities were shaped early on by the jukebox that played constantly in his family’s bar business. He remembers call numbers on the jukebox that corresponded to songs of Johnny Cash,Ray Price,Johnny Horton,Lynard Skynard,Almand Brothers, Otis Redding,Jackie Wilson, Fats Domino and local artists like The Neville Brothers,Ernie K-Doe,Irma Thomas, Clifton Chenier, and Vin Bruce. While he feels influenced by a broad spectrum of musical styles he admits to being especially drawn to the music of local black artists and Swamp pop, which is a mix of French,R&B, and fifties rock and roll.
After much encouragement from family and friends in support of Gordon’s music,he and his wife Monique made the move to Nashville in the early nineties. After a short stint working in Warner/Chappell Music’s tape copy room;Gordon’s music caught the attention of Nashville writer/producer Keith Stegall, who signed Gordon to his first publishing deal. He later returned to Warner/Chappell as a staff writer and has just signed a deal with Universal Music –Nashville.
Along the way;Nashville’s cajun connection has had songs recorded by Al Anderson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Mongomery Gentry,Lee Greenwood, Sammy Kershaw, Chris Knight, Wayne Toups, Conway Twitty, Chely Wright,Jeff Bates and most recently, Hot Apple Pie.
