Details:
Nashville-based singer/songwriter Kari Smith has been gathering crowds with her fresh vocal style and contagious smile, whether it be local fans in a crowded coffee shop, or on stage performing for thousands. Rather than waiting to be discovered, Kari is reaching her audience through local venues while writing new material, and working with such industry experts as master engineer and entertainment attorney Matthew Roberts of https://www.tradebit.com, and John Henneberger, producer and owner of Termite Lounge studio.
"As a vocalist, you can hear how Kari is mature beyond her years," says Matt Roberts. In addition to a full solo acoustic schedule, Kari frequently performs with other bands, such as Southern rock group Sin City Revival, and rock/pop group Leon Milmore, whose album "24 Days" (released 2004, JNH Music) features her backing vocals. Through this experience, she has also had the opportunity to share the stage with such national acts as Sugar Ray and Switchfoot. Her powerful version of the National Anthem has been heard at the minor-league baseball team Richmond Braves stadium, and concerts such as The Doobie Brothers, Huey Lewis & The News, and Hootie & The Blowfish.
In September 2005, she independently released an original EP album "go with you", which sold over 400 copies in the first year from internet and show sales alone. Her poignant, real-life original compositions range from leisurely, expressive mixes such as "Sweet Music Man," to such bluesy, driving rhythms as "I Call It Love," featured in independent film "Middle of the Road" (released August 2005, Red Cactus Films). Producer John Henneberger says "her song-writing is superb and reflects that of a seasoned veteran while maintaining a ''freshness'' in approach needed in today''s musical landscape." In August 2006, she independently released a self-titled original alternative country album "kari", which sold over 100 copies in the first month after being released.
In addition to being a college student where she is pursuing a degree in music, Kari maintains a full performance schedule, teaches piano lessons, and made the move from Richmond, VA to Nashville, TN in September 2006 in order to further her pursuit of performing and writing.
