Original is what the Rob Dues Band is all about. Just look at the name, it really speaks for itself!!! After countless attempts of trying to come up with an incredibly innovative band name, it just seemed hopeless. Well that is until one day in which the earth stood still, lava spewed from volcanoes worldwide, yada yada yada…and then someone said, “Rob Dues Band”. Next thing you know they’re recording records and playing gigs.
The Rob Dues Band, formed in College Station, Texas, started with respect for a good sound. After school/work the group would get together in what is now known as the “Blue Room”. This is a cheap and affordable practice room located in the neighbor’s spare bedroom. This is where the sound was molded and came to be what it is today. The great thing about the sound is that each member brought their own unique influence to the group. Travis came in the band with a more country music background, while Michael had more of a jazz thing goin. Rob liked the blues sound but also added something similar to a Dave Matthews guitar style.
Travis, Michael, and Rob, have all been surrounded with music from childhood. Over the years, each learning different instruments and having different influences. They all bring a sense of individuality to the bands final sound. Rob Dues has been playing the guitar and writing music for eleven years bringing along the melody and rhythm of the band’s sound. Travis Holland has been playing various instruments throughout his life, but finally found his niche with the drums, bringing the beat to the song. Michael Adams has been with the bass for three years and brings in the band’s groove.
The band is finally gearing up to hit the road this summer and start playing shows in Houston, Austin, and surrounding venues. Look for their new CD soon to hit the market this June.
