Details:
Andrea Gerak staying true to her folk singer roots, leads the project of traditional Hungarian songs presented in a modern form. She lends her unmistakable voice to the music composed by a group of versatile and talented artists from five countries; threading Eastern European pearls on melodies of Middle East and Northern Europe, Caribbean rhythms and modern technology, into a shining, beautiful string.
It all started in 2003 when Hungarian prize winner composer Sandor Fekete-Kiss asked Andrea to perform for Symmetry Festival in Budapest. They gave an improvised concert, Andrea singing a very old folk song and Sandor playing electronic instruments. After the near 18-minute piece, the audience asked when would be this redording available on CD...
The story continues with Effi Shoshani Israeli composer who heard Andrea in Budapest, singing Hungarian folk songs acapella. Got her "Madárka, madárka" album and a few months later came forth with a beautiful rendition of a song from the CD, which is now the title song.
Effi made two more tracks on this album, of which "Gyöngyvirág - Lily Of The Valley" was a finalist in the Instrumental / Jazz / World category of Song of the Year contest, in May 2004.
Two years later Andrea Gerak and Angel Oros (Cambridge) Spanish composer bumped into each other on a music website and there started yet another collaboration line. Their first baby is the dance version of "Don''t Fall Asleep" which later reached #2 position on the SOundclick World Fusion Chart. Cambridge asked two fellow musicians from the Dominican Republic to contribute to this song and so the album became a truly international one, in the deepest sense of World Fusion.
