These songs are from the heart. "Dear Mom" was one of the first songs I wrote and recorded. When my child was born, a light went off in my head. Like wow, it is really awesome and a big responsibility to have and raise a child. At that moment, I realized how much I appreciated my mom. All of the sudden I realized how important my mom was to me and I realized all she did to help me grow and learn in life. I immediately took my pen and wrote this song. The music came after. I originally recorded in a small town in Northeastern PA. I rerecorded later in Scranton. Frank Duffy played all of the instruments, and my mom sang the harmonies. It was cool recording my first song. "Give me a song about mother" was something me and my mom worked on together. She had written the words a long time ago about her mother. We sat down with the guitar and piano and finished it up. My friend Sean Kirnan played the piano on it and Frankie Duffy did the rest of the instruments.
"Happy Father''s Day", of course I wrote for my dad. He is a great father. He is down to earth, and is a preacher. I wanted a special song for him for all he has done for me. I sang this song to him in church and he was touched.
When I was taking care of my baby, I wrote "This Prayer For You" for my daughter Chelsea when she was real small. I only have one child and it was such an incredible experience to have a child. However labor wasn''t much fun, she has been a joy for the most part. I was inspired to write a pryer in a song form. It is a song/prayer that she will grow to be a good girl, love the Lord and do His will.. etc... And I have included the sound tracks because I think it would be a great song for a baby dedication or baptism ceremony. The word girl could be changed to boy if you are singing it for a boy''s ceremony.
