"She flavours her French and Spanish cantes with a mixture of Flamenco, Latino, Arab and Caribbean music, concocted by seasoned musicians."

With her rich and powerful voice, Joanna Moon passionately gives life to the gypsy soul in the most universal sense. Being rooted in folk and progressive rock music, this self-taught French-Canadian singer, songwriter and guitarist went to explore other musical styles which she always found seductive. Inspired by a range of Flamenco artists from Spain, she touched the ground with the experience of Flamenco and Cuban beats. She immersed herself within the compounds of this wonderful form. Now she sings in French and Spanish. We can describe her style as world music because of the marriage between the warm and sensual Andalusian and Caribbean rhythms.
The gypsy in her soul has roamed through many lifetimes, cities, through love, seclusion, joy, and tragedy. These are the themes she brings out in her writing and the anguish she emphasizes in her voice. Her experiences are pushing Joanna to go forward, always in search of a new creative calling.
Vagabunda is the title of Joanna''s first album. Collaborations on this project — including the unique accordion of Jaro Czerwinec (Cowboy Junkies, Gordon Downie) and the soulful flamenco guitar of Nicolas Hernandez (Jesse Cook, Esmeralda Enrique) as producer — are opening new doors, new sounds and new possibilities of expression in her music.
