There Is A Band Called The Browncoats And Yes, They Sing About Jayne
By Meredith Woerner, 9:30 AM on Thu Apr 9 2009, 6,898 views
I don''t know why I''m surprised by this rock remix of "The Hero of Canton," but I''m damn excited to share. It brings a tear to your Firefly-lovin'' eye. We have to go to the crappy town where I''m a hero next.

Let the Browncoats Tell You About a Man Named Jayne
Posted at 3:31 PM Apr 08, 2009
There''s nothing I like ending the day with more than nerd music. Admittedly, this music video by the Firefly-inspired band The Browncoats is probably a little less universal than yesterday''s "Robot Party" -- since everyone enjoys Bender on a bender with a blender in the kitchen -- but they are singing a song from an episode Firefly specifically about Adam Baldwin, current star of Chuck, so that has to count for something for some of you. hey, Nathan Fillion approves -- so should you. Thanks to Manny for the tip.

I might have made me a few enemies thereabouts
“Dollhouse” may soon be dead, but “Firefly” lives on forever. The latest example of the show’s zombie-like refusal to die? A band called The Browncoats. Doing a cover of “The Hero of Canton,” the song about the man they call Jayne.

Trickier and Trickier

Well my dearest Motherfakers,
It’s been an amazing week for the Improv Trick. We just had a great show last night and we’re performing at Off Broaday tomorrow in a benefit called Madahoopin’.
Yesterday, I shot a great comedy video with a local punk band called The Browncoats, a Firefly inspired band who recorded their own version of the song The Hero of Canton. What we did in the video was so gross that I had to vomit, literally on camera. You’ll find out when it hits YouTube here. Their first video got 16,000 hits in the first three days.
You may remember Tina Fey mentioning my gag reflex on David Letterman. Well, for those who doubted that the teeniest little thing makes me vomit…there is now video proof. I wasn’t supposed to, in fact the character I was playing with, Captain Moerke was drinking a disgusting concoction that was probably a health hazard and was pretending to puke it all up. Well, I got a whiff of this swill and started some reality TV of my own. I lost my breakfast (scrambled eggs) all over the table, and we got coverage of it on two cameras. Also in the video was one of my Improv Trick students BJ “Honkey” Lange, the No-Limit Honkey from MTV’s Spring Break.
I’ll have more to post later this week.

St. Louis, MO - The Improv Trick has been very busy in the St. Louis film scene. Bill Chott just finished shooting a web comedy with The Browncoats, a Firefly inspired punk band, and several other Improv Trick players just shot a film in St. Louis with Peter Carlos (a top director of St. Louis film, commercial and industrial work) entitled Big Time, written and directed by Peter Carlos. Both Chott and Carlos are graduates of Ritenour High School in St. Louis.
The film Big Time featured Tricksters Adrienne Lamping, Mike Lara and Bill Chott. Lamping is an Improv Trickster who recently shot several scenes with George Clooney in the film Up in the Air. Lara, an Improv Trick mainstage performer, will be performing the title role in Black Elk Speaks in Blair, Nebraska. Chott stars as Bucco the Clown, a washed up kids show performer.
The WAY-OUT-THERE punk comedy short with The Browncoats will go viral in July. The band’s first video, The Hero of Canton got 16,000 hits on YouTube in the first three days. It features Bill Chott as the nauseous host of a cooking show as well as fellow Improv Trickster BJ “Honkey” Lange, the No Limit Honkey from MTV’s Spring Break.
