“Smoke”, former lead singer for “The Ebonys”, showcases his message of “Life and Love” through his new four song EP/Mini CD, a mixture of R&B and Hip Hop-Jazz.
A Bristol Tennessee native, resides in PA and continues to be active in keeping the sound of Philadelphia alive.
“Smoke”, known for his rugged and powerful voice, delivers once again in four strong songs that reflect his message of “Life and Love”. Each song was carefully selected to say something profound about today’s issues and relationships.
First up is “Say It”, a mid-tempo groove with a message on the minds of many brothers. With strong lyrics from Smoke and powerful production from PA’s Kirk Boyer, the song fits well in a mix alongside Charlie Wilson and Anthony Hamilton.
“Deeper” is a strong, heartfelt ballad which has some vocal resemblance to that of Teddy Pendergrass and Al Green, written by Ron Foster, former keyboardist for Ecstasy Passion and Pain. “Smoke’s daughter, Tahlmia, adds some searing backgrounds in support of her father’s soothing lead.
“Call Me (After Sundown)” adds some humor and funk in light of today’s tough economic situation.
“In The Mirror” features the messenger side of “Smoke” in a hip hop vain. He and rapper Marino paint a vivid picture of the issues facing many young people in today’s tough times.
