A Forest Lane.
Nelson Jenstad has taken the Winter of 2009 to create these rich sounds for Piano and Strings. Many know Jenstad by his various works in swing jazz, eclectic blues and progressive rock. Although he has a passion for lush symphonic settings, you can easily find hints of these sonic longings on his other albums.
Capable on keyboards and string arrangements, Nelson Jenstad has allowed these ideas to flow into a set of seven works for this unique album. Dreamy to bittersweet, these works delve into our universal and reflective emotions with sensitivity and warmth. The title theme returns on track 4 as “A Forest Lane Revisited”. Perhaps this is some further place on that fond and familiar path. Up ahead, through the trees you might catch a glimpse of the windmill upon that distant hilltop. But then that''s up to you to see.
Meditative and introspective, a psychiatrist friend who received a copy of “A Forest Lane” told Nelson that this music "is like therapy".
Founder of NJMP Studios California, Jenstad has performed in many concert venues throughout California in a wide array of musical styles, piano solo, jazz rock even experimental music. He has met with Brian Eno to discuss music creativity, and once in 1976 his group (led by San Francisco''s Conservatory of Music, Dr. Hermann LeRoux) prior to a performance, recieved a phone message from John Cage to say "Remember, energy is form."
Nelson Jenstad, completed studies in Music Psychology in 1998, also has given 20 years of instruction in music and composition in Southern California. He personally wishes you sit back and enjoy this album of meditative works. A Forest Lane beckons you to follow.
