FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DETERMINED FOR SUCCESS
KANSAS CITY, KANSAS – May 27, 2009 - After two years of sweat, tears, and determination, VG is set to release his long awaited sophomore album Supa Bad, on August 18, 2009. Vincent Galicia, a 26-year-old native of Kansas City, KS, who goes by the name VG, showcases his diverse style, prolific songwriting ability, and radio-friendly tunes on his new album.
VG, winner of Ruma a la Sama, a Hispanic American idol contest, and runner up on 95.7 The Vibes’ “Big Break” worked mostly with young and talented local producers. A couple well-known names appear on his independently released album as well. Up and coming super producer https://www.tradebit.comte (Juelz Santana, Jazze Pha, Tiffany Evans) produced four tracks on the album including the title track and lead single Supa Bad. Tom Jack, who is one of the most sought after producers in Kansas City, also laced three of the tracks. Supa Bad contains 15 tracks of inspiration, personal vendetta and dance floor sensations. It’s nearly impossible to pin point the albums sound: crossover pop, radio ready rap, and R&B jams with reggaeton rhythm. “I’ve even got techno on my CD.” VG said. “I’ve got a little of something on this album for everybody.”
Determined, his first studio album was released over two years ago. The album was received well by critics and fans, but failed to make the noise and move the number of units that would make VG a household name. VG credits a lot of the mistakes to the team around him, or the lack thereof. “I did everything myself. I didn’t have a proper team in place. I was too focused on the music and couldn’t focus on the business aspect,” VG sustained. “I rushed the album and didn’t take my time. I went cheap and didn’t focus on quality.”
Most of the issues that plagued the first album have been fixed this time around. VG has enlisted the help of many respected industry names. He hired a major producer and engineer out of Dallas, Texas to master the album. Flaco da Great has worked with heavyweights like Lil Wayne, Fabolous, Don Omar, and Daddy Yankee. VG had the album replicated through Disk Makers, an industry favorite and nationwide leader in CD duplication. His manager, Scottie Mac, of DTA Productions is a nationally known DJ and promoter. Scottie Mac has not only made financial contributions to the album, but also provided some well-needed experience and professionalism. VG has also enlisted web and graphic designers as well. VG’s time and financial investment has him, determined to succeed, this time around.
If hard work is related to success, than success is just around the corner for VG. VG is a cement finisher and bricklayer by day and artist by night. 100 plus degrees in the summer and sometimes negative degree wind chills in the winter would make anyone quit a job. Not VG! “It prepares you for the fundamentals. Getting up early, finishing a job no matter how hard, and then stepping back and admiring your finished work.” VG stated. He was also the victim of a robbery. He had his whole studio stolen from his house, and has had to rebuild from scratch. Hard work and determination have brought him to the moment he is out now. The album is finished. The studio is back up and running again. “Eventually I want to have the whole world speaking Spanish.” VG says. The world is waiting.
