Indie-Folk duo Patchouli’s newest CD, The Woodlands, digs deep into individual experiences of recovery & healing, resting solidly on the pulse of a transforming America. The Woodlands merges Patchouli’s unique modern acoustic style with the sounds of late 60’s early 70’s and Julie’s poetic exploration with Bruce’s graduate studies in symbolism, mythology and theology.
This concept album derives from the origin story of the Raven stealing the sunlight from one who would keep the world in darkness. Traces of this legend can be found in Native American, Northern European, Chinese and Christian and other worldwide traditions. This recording was created intentionally so that the listener can see, sense and feel their journey out of darkness into the light. The Woodlands 13 new songs, include audience favorites, “The Labyrinth”, “Mine is Yours”, “The Carrying”, and Patchouli’s new version of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence”.
