Details:
Amaranthine started as an idea in late 2005. The idea was to have a musical project that consisted of more electronic sounds and ambience, though there was a hitch in that the project''s creator, Jason Vincion, didn''t have any ideas to really get going with this project.

A friend of his would be instrumental in changing this, as this friend decided to start a musical competition in November of 2005. The idea was to create a soundtrack for a video game, and the game was also to be conceptualized by the composer. Jason knew this would be the launchpad for Amaranthine.

It took Jason about a month to get all of his ideas straight for the game and the soundtrack, and another month and a half to compose and create the album. The 14 tracks on the original version of Mindtrap were finished in February of 2006, and Jason was pretty happy with the end result, as the album was full of different electronic styles & sounds that meshed together nicely.

The voters in the competition enjoyed the album as well, as it won the "Most Cohesive Album" award. After the competition wound down, Jason realized that he had applied a little too much reverb to the whole album and decided to remix it.

Jason began remixing the album in May of 2006. He also decided that he couldn''t just remix the project without adding a few things, so he finished three tracks that were in development when he was composing the original version. He was able to get everything finished up by August of 2006 and had the finished album in his possession shortly thereafter.

Jason is rather happy with how the album turned out, considering he had unintentionally created the album he had been wanting to do for a few years, which was an album that would be great to listen to while driving at night on the open road. He''s not sure what inspired him to want to do this, but Mindtrap has been field tested and does the job quite well. It also works great for an hour long cardio session at the gym, as the complete album is just 11 seconds over the hour mark.

The Amaranthine project has had a slight name change and grown quite a bit musically since this album came out, but it serves as a great progress point towards Jason''s future musical endeavors.
