Singer/Songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist A. P. Meister releases his first solo album on May, 30th 2009.
The backbone of the album “Mindflower, Thorn” is the acoustic guitar and the deep, solid vocals of A. P. Meister, who in the past has focused solely on the guitar. The recording was basically done old-style: letting songs and ideas come together organically, always trying to capture the moment. The result is an hour of original music which ranges from the 9 minute existentialist outlaw manifesto of ”Slow Burn”, the bluesy “The Company of Snakes” (featuring lots of slide-guitar), the ominous “Lost at Sea” and the country-tinged “Sad Eyes”, to the ethereal “Sycamore Street” (partly inspired by a poem by Baudelaire). As varied as they are, the songs share the sombre tone and dreamlike imagery that is characteristic of A. P. Meister’s music.
