Wisconsin born composer, pianist, and arranger, Mara Rosenbloom grew up with an inherent sense of songwriting and desire to improvise. Surrounded by the constant sound of her father’s jazz records, and her mother singing and playing at the piano, Mara eventually heard New York Calling. Throughout her 6 years in the city, Mara has performed and studied with such world-renowned musicians as Kenny Werner, Ralph Alessi, Jim McNeely, Gil Goldstein, Robert Dick and Dr. Justin Dello Joio.
Mara has performed her original music both locally (the jazz gallery, 55 bar, JVC Jazz Fest NY) as well as internationally (Italy, Peru, Dominican Republic). Her works for large ensemble have been premiered at the Blue Note Jazz Club NY, and were recently conducted and showcased by Jim McNeely and his tentet. In addition to composing and performing her own music, Mara has also arranged for and performed with Internationally acclaimed Peruvian singer Eva Ayllon and the Gabriel Alegria Afro-Peruvian Sextet.
