Details:
The relation of Evanthia Reboutsika with the cinema starts when she’s still a child, as she grew up in the projection booth of her father’s cinema in Kato Achaia, a town near Patra. Her first memories, full of the images and music of the films of that time, were transformed into the need for personal expression which has moved till today between two poles which constitute her great love: Music and Cinema.
It is not at all accidental the fact that her music even not written exclusively for some film, https://www.tradebit.comies or play for the theatre is classified as “film music”. Compositions with plot and images, colours and smell, lyrism and emotion which make up a personal soundtrack for the “cinema scenes” of our every day life.
When she writes music exclusively for the cinema her expression takes off as if she is in her natural workroom. Her music for the film “Politiki Kouzina” of Tassos Boulmetis which was honoured with the first Prize for the Music in the film Festival of Thessaloniki is characteristic, while the tremendous success of the film in Greece was accompanied with a platinum record with the music of the film. Evathia Reboutsika is able to accompany the scenes of the film ideally by bridging the gap between two different worlds and civilizations with many similarities and moreover signs a music that can stand as an independent nostalgic music trip with unstrained lyrism and sensitivity.
In Greece she is acknowledged as one of the most important avant-guard composers and a rare case as a woman-composer. After the film “Politiki Kouzina” she also wrote the music for the documentary of Lydia Karra “Cry of the Aegean” and for the film of the Turkish film director Çagan Irmak «BABAM VE OĞLUM» which was honoured with the Prize for “Soundrack of the Year” from the Radio Station of the University of Vosporos.
For the same film the composer was honoured with the “World Soundtrack Discovery Award 2006” which has been launched by the World Soundtrack Academy of Belgium. This prize is considered by many as one that can bring out especially bright composers and is an “indicator” of the nominations for the Best Music Film of the Prize Awards of the American Academy as it has also been awarded to music film composers in the past that later starred in the Oscar Awards. More than 250 top composers worldwide are ranked in the World Soundtrack Academy which was established in 2001 and presents the Prizes in Belgium annually.
(Evanthia Reboutsika was elected as ‘The Discovery of the Year 2006’ for the music of “BABAM VE OGLUM”. Launched in 2001 by the Flanders International Film Festival, the World Soundtrack Academy is aimed at organizing and overseeing the educational, cultural and professional aspects of the art of film music, including the preservation of the history of the soundtrack and its worldwide promotion).
Her last composition was for the film titled “ULAK” (“The Messenger”) written and directed from Cagan Irmak (https://www.tradebit.com).
Her latest CD entitled “Horos ton Astron” (Dance of the Stars) was recently released (December 2007,singer Elly Paspala, lyricist Eleni Zioga).
