Sandra J. Tiemens hails from Rochester, Minnesota. She currently serves as the 3rd Flute and Piccoloist of the Fort Collins Symphony as well as the Flutist of the United States Air Force Academy Band. She performed for the 2001 and 2003 National Flute Association conventions, and has participated in the Aspen and Texas Music Festivals. Sandra has performed with the Dayton Philharmonic and the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. In September of 1997, she enlisted in the United States Air Force, and was stationed with The Air Force Band of Flight, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. Sandra has been a member of The United States Air Force Academy Band since December of 2000, and performs with the concert band, marching band, and Rampart Winds. She graduated cum laude from Lawrence University with the Bachelors of Music degree in Flute Performance and the Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. She also holds the Master of Music degree in Flute Performance from the University of North Texas. While at North Texas, she was the winner of the 1997 Concerto Competition.
Aaron Turner, a native of Wisconsin, currently resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As a percussionist, he has performed with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Dayton Philharmonic, the United States Air Force Band of Flight, Chamber Orchestra of the Springs, and the Pueblo Symphony Orchestra. He has performed on drumset with Frank Mantooth, John Thuline, Randy Sabien, and the fusion group 21/3.
He holds a Bachelor of Music from Lawrence University in percussion performance and a Master of Music from the University of North Texas in percussion performance with a jazz studies emphasis. Turner is also active as a music educator. Besides teaching at CSU-Pueblo, he is the percussion instructor at Lewis-Palmer High School in Monument, Colorado.
Improvising cellist Matt Turner has been recording and touring with pianist Bill Carrothers’ Armistice 1918 project for several years. Equally skilled as a pianist, Turner performs in a myriad of styles and has shared the stage with Cape Breton fiddle sensation Natalie MacMaster, avant-garde pianist Marilyn Crispell, country musician Wanda Vick, singer-songwriter LJ Booth, and jazz musician Bobby McFerrin to name a few and has performed in Canada, Europe and Asia. He appears on over 90 recordings on Sketch/Harmonia Mundi, CRI, Music and Arts, Accurate, Polyvinyl, Cadence Jazz and others Turner has performed at several music festivals including the Paris JVC Jazz Festival, Nancy Jazz Pulsations, Avignon Jazz Festival, Festival en Haute-Garonne, International Cello Festival in Montreal, and the New Directions Cello Festival.
