MP3 Dan Barbeau & The Basement Party - The Revisionist
His music lives in roots, atmospheric blues and country territories, with an invigorating touch of rock’n’roll. There is a novelness and power to the songwriting that has become a rarity in popular country music. The lyrics are good enough to be true.

May, 2009 - Dan Barbeau & the Basement Party are pleased to announce the release of their new record “The Revisionist.” Fairfield, California singer/songwriter Dan Barbeau, in his fifth cd of original music, has successfully melded country, roots, blues and rock’n’roll into a 12 song disc dipped deep in nostalgia, lost love and things gone wrong. Dan Barbeau is as believable a singer as he is a songwriter and the tales told are sincere enough you might mistake them for gospel. “Hence,” Dan says, “the title. Songs, like one’s personal history, are always subject to revision. As I get older, I think better of the past.” That said, it’s tough not to identify with the thoughtfulness of songs like “Lost and Found” and “The Likes of Me” ; the guilty conscience that emanates from “I Alone Should Pay” and “My Mistake” or the party atmosphere of “No Better Time To Get Drunk.”
The Basement Party, an ever changing group of musician associates, includes Chris “Booger” Blaney of Fairfield on the upright bass and John Batty- Sylvan, a San Francisco blues harmonica player who also appeared on “Requiem for a Rockabilly”, Dan Barbeau & The B.P.’s 2007 release. John Fitz, also out of San Francisco, brings it all together with his skilled drumming. Backing vocals are provided by Nikki HardKore, a pin-up model and singer out of Vacaville, California and Nicole Mason and Drea Ford, both artists in Solano County.
We hope you enjoy it.
