Details:
Rick Forkes has been involved in the Midwestern Music Scene for over 40 years. He is a venerable multi-keyboardist who has led a wide variety of popular blues and progressive bands as well as other midwestern acts. He has studied a vast array of works, ranging from Bach to Chick Corea. All of these influences surface on this CD! It''s apparent after the first few bars that Forkes has considerable chops.
Ths thirteen track CD is his solo debut. Entitled “Suitable For Framing,” the CD features a number of well-known regional, as well as international, players as sidemen. Forkes, a 2003 Nominee for WAMI Keyboard Player of the Year, composed twelve of the songs and co-wrote the final track with long time friend and guitarist, Mark Pannier.
The project was produced and mastered by Gary Tanin (multi-year WAMI Producer of the Year), who has produced such notables as the BoDeans, Sammy Llanas’ Absinthe, Udi Subudi, Monovox, and his own bands Otto & The Elevators and Xpensive Dogs. Tanin''s golden ears have also provided world class mastering for artists like Daryl Stuermer (Genesis, Phil Collins), jazz icon Claude Dorsey, and the critically acclaimed Sweetbottom reunion CD.
"Suitable For Framing" marks the inaugural release of a regional artist on the RockIt Records label, an independent label founded by musicians for musicians.
