Mauricio Amaya is a singer and multi-instrumentalist from El Salvador, possesing a well established andean influence. His music beginnigns in El Salvador started with the classical guitar, under Jose Candido Morales, a student of the great Agustin Barrios "Mangore". His focus quickly changed from classical to the folklore after the first time he heard the earthy, haunting, and profound sound of the music from the andes. He plays guitar, charango, panflutes, kena, venezuelan cuatro, native american flutes, and many percussion instruments. Mauricio Amaya now lives in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
