''‘Not just an ethereal soundscape but an enchanting melody as well… the kind of music not heard since the Cocteau Twins, and listening to ‘Higher Ground’ we are very glad of that’ (Record of the Day)

Greenhaus, established in 1999, with early 12" releases on Beggars Banquet and Kickin Records, "were" considered a techno outfit. Nowadays the band couldn''t be further removed from that genre. Over the last few years and with many live gigs and tours behind them (including supports with Gary Numan, De/Vision, Jon Foxx and Mesh) the band has recorded and released 2 albums.

The band now comprises original member Steve Bellamy on production, arrangement, guitars, keyboards and electronics, with Phoenix J providing main and backing vocals, melody and lyric writing. Additional players include Clark Denham on bass guitar, Warren Farr on drums, Susana Duende ..boards and backing vocals, and more recently, Mark Anthony Adams on guitar.

Although other singers have appeared now and then, including Lahannya and Anthony Neale, Phoenix has really stamped her name on the future releases. Her beautifully crafted melodies and tone lend to the overall offering being described as ''almost therapeutic'' and likened to Massive Attack and the Cocteau Twins.

The band have recently released their third studio album ''You''re Not Alone''. With the new album introducing live strings and woodwind arrangements, ''You''re Not Alone'' will continue, and take much further, the chill out themes of ''Another Life''.

You''re Not Alone is an aural treat, creating not just songs, but soundscapes across the duration of the album, complemented with vocals and more recognisable instrumentation... Greenhaus is hard to classify under one genre, but one label which has been applied to them is ''spacerock'' - so if you like your music rocky yet spacey, check them out!

Reviews...

"An interesting blend of electro, pop, and epic rock, Greenhaus’s refreshing lyrics and flowing rhythms certainly get the message across… With both male and female vocals swimming through the mellow sounds, the entire album is an aural masterpiece. “Not In My Name” by far impressing me the most, with its straightforward lyrics and its clean vocal style. The blend is seamless really, with various talents appearing on this album, each song is taken to its full extent, there’s never that feeling of “I wish this sound were different..” etc. It’s not too pop, and not too stagnated, which can appeal to almost anyone’s musical taste. “Too many fears” and “Higher Ground” have an accessible vibe to them, whereas “Golitha Falls” and “Home” resonate with an ethereal sound that sits in your head for hours. The closing track “Take the Time” is a dreamy conclusion to the album, with lilting female vocals and quiet sounds. Overall, an impressive and diverse album with quite a bit of meaning and substance behind it" https://www.tradebit.com
