Vaughn McFarlane started playing the guitar in 2000 when he received one for Christmas. He began staying up late at night in his room playing for hours, dreaming of the day when he would be able to write his own songs. In the back of his mind somewhere was the dream of recording a CD. He progressed through ‘When the Saints Go Marchin’ In’ all the way to ‘Yankee Doodle.’ He taught himself to read music and use rhythm and beat through music books he bought. High school guitar classes were another place to hone skills with friends, but once he started doing some simple recording on the computer, he was hooked. Little by little, more and more songs were added to his repetoire. He started playing a few small shows with fellow musican and artist Clint Allred. Finally the day came when he knew he had to record his songs onto a CD and he did so in the front room of his little house. His lyrical style has been influenced by many acoustic artists such as John Denver, James Taylor, Paul Simon and Jack Johnson, but mostly by the local Utah band Royce. Royce has been a musical older brother to Vaughn and he thanks them for their fine work. Vaughn hopes people have fun when they hear his music because he sure has a lot of fun playing it!
