Details:
Tony was born in Nashville and grew up in the middle of country music. He began playing guitar at an early age when his grandfather taught him some chords and his first “pickin’ song”, Wildwood Flower. He also hung out at the local music store and absorbed what he could from the great pickers that came by. His first band Sierra opened for Janie Fricke and Merle Haggard during a Houston music festival. After moving to Memphis, he played with Delta Breeze, a rock, blues and country band that gigged around the Memphis bar scene for several years. The band’s core remained and it was reincarnated as “i2i”. The early influence of his grandfather led him to return to his bluegrass and country roots. He started playing bluegrass and writing songs just a few years ago. He is currently in a bluegrass band, Blue Day. It features Steve Craig on bass and vocals, Rick Crenshaw on mandolin and vocals, and Ed Richter on banjo and vocals. Tony plays guitar, sings and writes original material for the band.
This is Tony''s first album. He wrote the songs. He sang all of the parts and played all of the instruments with a few exceptions. He produced, engineered and mastered the album. Everything was done in his home studio. He also designed the cover art.
The first 7 songs are Part One (Dogwoods). These are the bluegrass/acoustic songs. The last 7 songs are Part Two (Mudholes). These are the country/rock songs with drums and electric guitars. He has a wide variety of musical tastes and it''s reflected here.
