Bardo Prayers:
Bardo is a Tibetan word which means "transition." We are always going through transitions: gains and losses, pleasures and pains. The Bardo Prayers contained in this CD are from the sacred spiritual traditions of Tibet. They
confer the blessing of "Liberation upon Hearing" and are intended for those who seek comfort and ease through the difficult transition of death--one''s own death, or the death of a loved one.
Bhakha Tulku Rinpoche tells us that listening to these sacred prayers will bring definite benefit and blessings to those close to death, and to those who are within seven weeks of having passed away.

The Venerable Bhakha Tulku Rinpoche is the main lineage holder of the Tibetan lineage of Rigdzin Pema Lingpa, one of the Five Great Kingly Tertons (Treasure Finders) of the Tibetan Nyingma tradition. He is also the incarnation of the great treasure revealer, Terton Dorje Lingpa, and an emanation of the eighth century scholar, translator, and meditation master Vairotsana, (one of the first seven monks ordained in Tibet). Bhakha Tulku Rinpoche was recognized as such by both H.H. the 16th Karmapa and H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche.
Rinpoche''s teaching activities and translations in the West have been of great benefit to many people. Rinpoche has agreed to come to the United States at the request of many to further spread the teachings of the Buddha-Dharma here. He has established the Vairotsana Foundation to serve this purpose.
Lama Sonam was born in the Pema Köd region and at the age of 9 traveled to the Mysore region of southern India to attend the Nyingma Buddhist monastery and Buddhist studies center of Namdroling under the direction of H.H. Penor Rinpoche. At Namdroling, Lama Sonam studied traditional forms of Tibetan calligraphy, grammar, poetry, traditional Buddhist temple music, as well as sacred ritual and dance. After graduation, he was appointed by H.H. Penor Rinpoche as the master of monastic discipline in the main Namdroling Monastery.
In 1997, he was sent to Taiwan to serve at the Palyul Nyingma Center. Lama Sonam came to the United States in 2000 and has assisted Bhakha Tulku Rinpoche at the Vairotsana Foundation Centers in California. Currently, Lama Sonam is in residence at the Vairotsana Foundation Center in Garden Grove, California.
Bhakha Tulku Rinpoche and Lama Sonam recorded these prayers at the Shelter of Clear Light Recording studios in Los Angeles, California on April 4, 2008.
