Anyone who has heard the powerhouse vocals of newcomer Melanie May can testify to the fact that by one long held note she has the crowd to their feet and getting in the mood of her country twang!
Melanie is from a small town in Geauga County called Parkman. Having a single stoplight, gas station, and tiny post office, country living is all she''s known and grown up to love. So sticking with her background she sings, writes, plays, and breathes country music.
At the ripe young age of 18, Melanie has experienced opportunities many teens her age only dream about. Having eight years experience under her belt-buckle, she has completed and produced several demo CDs, her first CD single "Not Allowed to Love Me", and just released her first album of her originals titled, "Switchin'' Gears". This album has successful session players such as Freddy Little, who was Buck Owens'' steel guitar player.
Melanie has met and worked with many well respected people, some of them artists, in the music industry such as Lonestar, Chely Wright, and Adolfo Lee Mayo. She is in a band called Bullseye. They are equally impressive by receiving the chance to open for well-known country star Kenny Chesney, however, dropped the spot to artist Tony Rio.
In the past, Melanie has sung the National Anthem for the Lake County Captains, and Mahoning Valley Scrappers minor league baseball teams, and auditioned for the Cleveland Indians major league team placing her in the top twelve. She currently hosted the Nashville Spotlight TV show in Tennessee and sings at fairs, festivals, private parties, and dance clubs, such as Mustang Salliz, Jewels, and The Dirty Boot Saloon.
"In the future, my goal is to share my music with everyone by entertaining, as many country artists do for me today. I''ve learned when an opportunity knocks on a closed door; it won''t take the time to pick the lock. Be there ready for unexpected company. Whether I''m on stage performing for hundreds of people, or in the shower with make-shift acoustics; when I sing, something takes over me, and I get lost in a perfect world. I couldn''t imagine a world without my God given talent to sing."
