Details:
Marissa Lynae began writing songs as a hobby when she was 15 and started her first band during her sophomore year in college. With the first gig, it was evident the promise Marissa had on stage since this first gig, a battle of the bands, won both the audience vote and judges vote. Soon they got the chance to open for Sister Hazel a month later. Since then she has been in and out of bands and her songs played on Memphis radio 94.1 The Buzz in the fall of 2003 under the band name King''s Kismet (see link under top friends to hear previous material under King''s Kismet).
For the past few years, Marissa has spent her time developing her songwriting skills and her vision as an artist. Stepping away from the more pop rock style of her previous bands, she found her greatest influences in the arena she surround herself with working at the Folk Alliance. She learned how to be true to herself, simple and to the point, but still unique. She will be releasing her first EP as a solo artist this upcoming March. Expect a whole new Marissa to re-emerge. Simpler, sweeter, and as true and honest as ever, laying her heart out on the table with songs like "You Move Me" and "Search Honestly." Richard Ford, a 5-time Premier String Player nominee of the Grammys Memphis Chapter, says of Marissa, "She sings like a bird, writes songs like a fox, and is as lovely as a golden monarch drifting slowly through the blue lens of the silver moonlight."
