Details:
Hazard To Ya Booty is an exceptionally tight funk rock band from St. Louis, Missouri that fuses elements of rock, soul, hip-hop, jazz and blues to make a head bobbing funk sound that''s guaranteed to get people moving and sweating. If hazard could inject any more energy into their live shows they would cause an audio supernova and be sucked into a funky black hole. Starting out in 2000 at Truman State University in MO and making a huge splash on the local college scene, Hazard has gone through various line up changes since but all the while stayed true to its core principal: Getting that booty moving.
One generally thinks to Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Roots, Galactic, or Dumpstaphunk when experiencing Hazard’s mix of melody and rhymes with rocking and funky grooves all accented by a slamming horn section. Other parallels are drawn to Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament, James Brown, and Stevie Wonder, all of whom Hazard play tribute to in their live sets. Along with winning several local battle of the bands competitions Hazard has played with Nappy Roots, Jurassic 5, Common, Ludo, Pomeroy, Heiruspecs, Core Project, Freekbass, and Ya Mama''s Big Fat Booty Band.
Hazard has sold over 5,000 copies of their two self-released full-length albums, "Putcha Hand On It" (2003) and "Squeeze" (2004) and is currently working on their much-anticipated 3rd album due out at the end of 2009. Hazard still plays around the Midwest on a regular basis performing 45min power sets or 3 hour extended jams. Start stretching if you catch their live show because you better be prepared for a workout. When they kick it, so vivid, folks dig it like a bad dog in a garden, no kiddin!
