Hristo Vitchev is a modern jazz guitarist and composer from Bulgaria (Europe). Residing in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1998, Hristo has performed with some of the premier musicians in the region. He has toured nationally and internationally with a wide variety of formations and has also performed guitar clinics in Europe and Japan. Hristo Vitchev has written more than 200 original compositions as well as a theory book on chordal development and construction for guitarists entitled "Between the Voicings". He holds a B.A. in Music degree (jazz guitar with concentration in composition and arranging) from San Jose State University and is also highly demanded as an educator in the greater S.F. Bay Area. In 2009 Hristo Vitchev recorded "Song for Messambria" - the debut album of his quartet which features Joe De Rose on drums, Weber Iago on piano, and Dan Robbins on bass. The record presents a unique blend of modern jazz (ECM), classical, and Brazilian textures, and showcases the completely unique and masterful interpretation of the jazz idiom by each one of its members.
