Details:
Blind Side is the second in a series of recordings by Mark Todd, under the alias Henry and the Habits. He spins tales perhaps even more ghastly than those of his first recording, Prison Songs.

In the opening song, we are introduced to Frank, a man with half a face…and, along the way, a cast of characters including the Carp boy, the two Bills (Bill and Regular Bill…Bill’s the one with the arrow in his head), ghouls working at a funeral home, Ida with her extra arm, and Nell whose collecting habits are a bit odd (“She’s been collectin’ things for years. Fingers mostly…some guys give ‘em to her, but others we gotta get ourselves. Sometimes we go out at night huntin’ ‘em. Usually find the best ones in alleys. I take ‘em back and clean ‘em off real good, but I don’t trim the nails. Best just to leave ‘em like you find ‘em.”) We end in the charred landscape snapshot of Apocalypse.

The sound is harsh at times, spare, with Todd playing most of the instruments crudely, calling on his wife Krystal (with the angelic voice) for occasional vocals and friend Scott H. Biram for two guitar backings (Ray and Nancy and Side o’ the Road).

All in all, it’s a horrifyingly cynical look at our collective worst fears and compelling obsessions or maybe it’s just the ramblings a man suffering with the onset of dementia.

“I woke up in the hospital in restraints…I guess so’s I wouldn’t pull out the tubes. Had a head set on. Some guy tellin’ stories. Must’ve been that Todd character. Oh, what’s he callin’ hisself now? Henry? I couldn’t get away from it. I tried to push the call button with my elbow but no one ever came.” – Cousin Cyrus Dent
