Fertile Fields is new music for voice, cello, accordion and percussion from Robert Een, featuring eleven new compositions with accordionist Ted Reichman and percussionist Hearn Gadbois.
The Village Voice has said of Een''s work, "Joyous...a roller coaster of postminimal-jazz energy that could engage any audience".
The music on "Fertile Fields" is a wildly inventive mix of unusual acoustic instrumentation. Jacob''s Song, Jacob''s Dream and Jacob''s Reel are inspired by the Biblical story of Jacob. Potato Dig is a driving work song; Angels in the Garden, a slow sultry twostep; and Spring Eve, a stately ballad.
