Details:
Vox Lucens is a 12-member vocal ensemble that came together in 1998 to explore a capella music of the Renaissance. Under the direction of Jay Lane, we work cooperatively to develop programs combining popular favorites with lesser-known works, often in our own editions. In this, our second CD, we feature a little-known master whose creations deserve to be more widely known -- Jean Lheritier, a French composer who lived from about 1480 to 1552. Lheritier''s luminous works are some of our favorite pieces, ranging from sunny and hopeful to darkly elegant.
Vox Lucens, Latin for "a shining voice," echoes not only the ensemble sound we bring our audiences but also our hope to shed light on the wide variety of styles and textures of the Rennaisance repertoire.
