Details:
Led by musician and arranger Edgardo Delgado (guitarist), with Myrna Fuentes (vocals), Israel Santana (cuatrista), José Raúl Cruz (flute), Juan Ortiz and Jose Luis Santana (percussion). Since its founding in 1985, the group performs at festivals, concerts and various social and cultural activities in Puerto Rico.

“Taller Criollo” starts this year with a new album under the name "Cuando se quiere Cantar (When you want to sing"). In this, as in the previous production “Two songs for Vieques”, the Puerto Rican songwriter and singer, Flora Santiago, is our special guest collaborator. Flora returned to recording, at the request of the public, two of its major successes “La Ley de Gravedad (The law of gravity)” and “Andando Sola (Walking Alone)”, impeccably performed with the unique sound of “Taller Criollo”. Myrna Fuentes, singer of “Taller”, masterfully interprets “Oración al Cielo” (Prayer to the sky), of Antonio Caban Vale and “No te vayas mulato” (Do not go mulatto), of the immortal Rafael Hernandez, among others.

Edgardo Delgado was again in charge of the arrangements and musical direction of this production and interprets the song “Cuando se quiere cantar” (When you want to sing) from the poet and composer Mario Enrique Velazquez. Further enrich this production two excellent singers: Juan Rodriguez, who sings the beautiful bolero “Te fuiste a Volar” (You went to fly) by Mariano Rodriguez, and Jorge Rodriguez who sings “Navidad es compartir” (Christmas is to share) of his own inspiration. Jorge Rodriguez is also the author of the ‘aguinaldo’ “Eso es Puerto Rico” (This is Puerto Rico), who open the production in the exquisite voice of Myrna Fuentes.

In addition to the musicians of "Taller Criollo”, joins this fabulous group: in flute Nitza Gonzalez, Mariano Rodriguez on trumpet, the outstanding ‘cuatristas’ Luis Vazquez and Charlie "the Guayubin" Rodriguez, and percussionists Ismael Del Valle and Arnaldo Rivera. Finally, in “Cuando se quiere cantar” (When you want to sing) and “Te fuiste a volar” (You went to fly) the violin was interpreted by Ileana Diaz, Amanda Rivera and Alfredo Luna in viola.

“Cuando se quiere Cantar” is, undoubtedly, a remarkable contribution of Edgardo Delgado and his "Taller Criollo" for the Puerto Rican national music.
