Details:
At 27 years old, Victoria native Pauline Edwards writes and sings from personal experience. She has a genuine desire to inspire her listeners to explore their own life experiences and discover the potential for positive change through realization and acceptance.
Pauline is a classically trained violinist, and has been playing guitar for nearly a decade. Emerging onto the scene in 2002 with local culture jammers collective KINGBONG, Pauline established herself as an energetic and versatile performer, contributing backup vocals and violin to the 10-piece ensemble. She has performed and recorded with Toronto''s soul/dub group Greenlaw Ave., downtempo soul saviours LAL, including a live performance at the 2004 Ohm festival, and Victoria''s own James Kasper, to name a few. In summer 2007, Pauline completed a five week Canadian tour (21 dates) as the opener for the Wild Lily Gypsy Caravan tour-a traveling show of 7 different Canadian performers from across the country.
Pauline''s voice has been compared to the likes of Jewel, Jane Arden, Bjork, and Ani DiFranco. With influences ranging from Bach to Radiohead, her music reveals a matured personal style that sings to the melody of the soul. Her first acoustic solo album, CatchingUP, was released in September 2005. It features six original musical works with an accompanying poetry album entitled ‘Conversations with the Sun and the Moon’ – a reflective collection inspired by love, nature, and relationship.
Pauline is currently recording her first full band album with Engineer/Producer Eric Hogg at Soma Studio. Look for her new album ‘There Comes a Time’ and accompanying poetry book ‘Exchanges with Self and Others’ due out early spring 2009.
